6th March in the Ghanaian calendar shall always be significant since that was the date the first Prime Minister and later President of the republic declared Ghana as a fully independent country.

This year’s date falls on Monday 6th March 2023 and the celebration was held in the Volta Region, Adaklu to be precise. The President HE Nana Akufo Addo and the First Lady HE Rebecca Akufo Addo, the Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamud Bawumia and the Second Lady HE Hajia Samira Bawumia graced the occasion.

This year’s event is on the theme: “Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose”. President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea Bissau, who is also the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), is the Special Guest of Honour.
The day was mark with celebrations across the length and breath of the country which stood out colorfully.
