Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed in a new interview that she and her husband Will Smith have been separated since 2016. Though the actors were living completely separate lives for seven years, they were not ready to publicly confirm the news before, she confessed to NBC.
Hoda asked Pinkett Smith for more details about her marriage revelation in her new memoir titled WORTHY which will be in stores early next month November.
According to Hoda Kotb what “surprises her the most” in the memoir is how the world still sees the couple as married materials but in actual sense, they’ve been separated for almost 7 years now.
Pinkett’s answer was clear, “we” (Jada and Smith) have been leaving separately since 2016 but we decided not to divorce.
The actress continued by adding even though they were separated, Will still stood by her when Chris Rock resulted in making a joke out of her shaved head at 2022 Oscars.

I was like ” there’s no way that Will hit him.’ It wasn’t until he started to walk back to his chair that I even realized it wasn’t a skit”. The first thing I asked Will was ” are you okay?”, ” I’m going to be by your side”.
Further more allow him to figure out things for himself, she concluded.
